When You Are Hurting and Lost God Is Here With You

She replied, “Wait, my daughter, until you learn how the matter turns out, for the man will not rest but will settle the matter today.” Ruth 3:18.

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy. James 3:17.

If you have faith as a mustard seed…nothing will be impossible for you. Matthew 17:20.

Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow Me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12.

And continuing our 351 Old Testament prophecies, promises of God, fulfilled in Jesus Christ, we come to number 184: His Character – Just. Isaiah 9:7: There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness from then on and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this. And, John 5:30: I can do nothing on My own initiative. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.

I love each of the Scripture verses above and they bring peace into my troubled and burdened heart because my heart and this worlds actions are irrational. Looking at our world today and the problems between people beginning within families, can we appreciate these words of wisdom and take them into our own hearts so in need of God: But the wisdom from above is first pure – then peaceable – gentle – willing to yield – full of mercy and good fruits – without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy. Every wounding of every heart will find healing in the love of Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit. Impossible? That my friend is the prison binding you into unbelief of all that is good. When I try to imagine healing that is real I can feel my inward self butting up against an impenetrable wall not visible but very real. I think that is what Scripture is all about, the need of all of us to be released from the lies imprisoning us. And the Father sent the Son for us: “Behold, My Servant, whom I uphold; My chosen one in whom My soul delights. I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the nations. He will not cry out or raise His voice, nor make His voice heard in the street. A bruised reed He will not break and a dimly burning wick He will not extinguish; He will faithfully bring forth justice. He will not be disheartened or crushed until He has established justice in the earth; and the coastlands will wait expectantly for His law.” Thus says God the LORD, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and its offspring, who gives breath to the people on it and spirit to those who walk in it, “I am the LORD, I have called You in righteousness, I will also hold You by the hand and watch over You, and I will appoint You as a covenant to the people, as a light to the nations, to open blind eyes, to bring out prisoners from the dungeon and those who dwell in darkness from the prison. I am the LORD, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, nor My praise to graven images. Behold, the former things have come to pass, now I declare new things; before they spring forth, I proclaim them to you.” Isaiah 42:1-9. And when John the Baptist was held in the darkness of a prison made of bars and heavy doors, before he was beheaded by Herod’s order, he sent his disciples to Jesus. When Jesus had finished giving instructions to His twelve disciples, He departed from there to teach and preach in their cities. Now when John, while imprisoned, heard of the works of Christ, he sent word by his disciples and said to Him, “Are You the Expected One, or shall we look for someone else?” Jesus answered and said to them, “Go – and report to John what you hear and see: the blind receive sight and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who does not take offense at Me.” Matthew 11:1-6. We are all of us imprisoned in this fallen world where there is hardship, suffering, and evil, unrighteous judging and condemning, and we see its effects every day in our vast world. And there is love – and hope – and comfort – found in hearts of simple human beings formed in the very image of Creator God. There is the beauty of the creation we inhabit that will one day be renewed and restored to its glorious former beauty we long for now. All of this is held by Creator God and He will bring His healing to all of His creation in the eternal wisdom of His timing and His grace for our good – Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God – leads you to repentance? Romans 2:4.

***AN INSTRUMENT OF YOUR PEACE – LORD, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, not so much to be understood as to understand, not so much to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; it is in dying that we awake to eternal life. Francis of Assisi (1181-1226).***
