“Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. I knew that You always hear Me; but because of the people standing around I said it, so that they may believe that You sent Me.” John 11:41-42.

“In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I will request of the Father on your behalf; for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I came forth from the Father.” John 16:26-27.

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? 1 Corinthians 6:19.

And continuing our 351 Old Testament prophecies, promises of God, fulfilled in Jesus Christ, we come to number 107: His delight – the will of the Father. Psalm 40:6-8: Sacrifice and meal offering You have not desired; my ears You have opened; burnt offering and sin offering You have not required. Then I said, “Behold, I come; in the scroll of the book it is written of me. I delight to do Your will, O my God; Your law is within my heart.” And, John 4:34; Hebrews 10:5-10: Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work.” Therefore, when He comes into the world, He says, “Sacrifice and offering You have not desired, but a body You have prepared for Me; In whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You have taken no pleasure. Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come (In the scroll of the Book it is written of Me) to do Your will, O God.’” After saying the above, “Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You have not desired, nor have You taken pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the Law), then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will.” He takes away the first in order to establish the second. By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

I delight to do Your will, O my God; Your law is within my heart. That marks the end of our own ideas of right and wrong. How can we possibly trust our own ideas of right and wrong living as we do in this confused and fallen world that glorifies everything causing the trauma and pain suffered? From the very beginning of us God has shown us the better way and that way is Him. We see it best after we come to the end of ourselves and in deep need turn to Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit. People will disappoint us and we will disappoint ourselves and then we begin to despair of ever experiencing the good we know must be. Sometimes it’s good to stand and turn our back on everything wrong in this fallen world and ask for God’s help. In asking for His help we are turning to Him who loves us. And in Him we finally find all that is our true home.

***GUIDED BY YOU LORD, grant that I may always allow myself to be guided by You, always follow Your plans, and perfectly accomplish Your holy will. Grant that in all things, great and small, today and all the days of my life, I may do whatever You require of me.
