“All things have been handed over to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.” Turning to the disciples, He said privately, “Blessed are the eyes which see the things you see, for I say to you, that many prophets and kings wished to see the things which you see, and did not see them, and to hear the things which you hear, and did not hear them.” Luke 10:22-24.

“Those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart . . . For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man.” Matthew 15:18-20.

And continuing our 351 Old Testament prophecies, promises of God, fulfilled in Jesus Christ, we come to number 93: His exaltation predicted. Psalm 24:3: Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD? And who may stand in His holy place? And, Acts 1:11; Philippians 2:9: They also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.” For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name.

Can you imagine being Jesus, the Son, Creator God, and talking with humans living then? Not just to one person but to the crowds following and hearing Him teach, to the Pharisees who also followed to condemn. He said hard things. The second Scripture verse cited above from My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers continues: “Initially we trust in our ignorance, calling it innocence, and next we trust our innocence, calling it purity. Then when we hear these strong statements from our LORD, we shrink back, saying, “But I never felt any of those awful things in my heart.” We resent what He reveals. Either Jesus Christ is the supreme authority on the human heart, or He is not worth paying attention to. Am I prepared to trust the penetration of His Word into my heart, or would I prefer to trust my own “innocent ignorance”? . . . The only thing that truly provides protection is the redemption of Jesus Christ. If I will simply hand myself over to Him, I will never have to experience the terrible possibilities that lie within my heart. Purity is something far too deep for me to arrive at naturally. But when the Holy Spirit comes into me, He brings into the center of my personal life the very Spirit that was exhibited in the life of Jesus Christ, namely, the Holy Spirit, which is absolute unblemished purity.”

As I was praying this morning, I felt as though I was walking along a path that was beautiful with golden light showing the way forward; and yet above and surrounding me in all directions, was this dense, swirling vortex of all the certainties of this worlds wrong ideas rushing and spiraling out of control. For the first time I understood the narrow road Jesus talked about. He is the peace and calm in this chaotic world we live in. And as I stayed quietly with Him in prayer, everything opened up to a spacious place where I can be with Him in stillness and quiet that restores His peace within me. He is the Way and the Truth and the Life so needed by each of us and He is here. Always. He longs to bring His peace into your life that before the Holy Spirit was poured out only the few were able to experience with Him. Everything changed when Jesus entered into our chaotic world and returned to the Father. He sent His Spirit so we would never be without Him. Do you want to be His disciple? Blessed are the eyes which see the things you see, for I say to you, that many prophets and kings wished to see the things which you see, and did not see them, and to hear the things which you hear and did not hear them.
