Whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. John 14:13. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. John 15:7-8.
What do I see flying like clouds to Israel, like doves to their nests? They are ships from the ends of the earth, from lands that trust in Me, led by the great ships of Tarshish. They are bringing the people of Israel home from far away, carrying their silver and gold. They will honor the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for He has filled you with splendor. Isaiah 60:8-9.
And continuing our 351 Old Testament prophecies, promises of God, fulfilled in Jesus Christ, we come to number 53: The bodily ascension to heaven illustrated. 2 Kings 2:11: As they were going along and talking, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire and horses of fire which separated the two of them. And Elijah went up by a whirlwind to heaven. And, Luke 24:51: While He was blessing them, He parted from them and was carried up into heaven.
I loved this today in Jesus Calling by Sarah Young: “I am all around you, like a cocoon of Light. My Presence with you is a promise, independent of your awareness of Me. Many things can block this awareness, but the major culprit is worry. My children tend to accept worry as an inescapable fact of life. However, worry is a form of unbelief; it is anathema to Me. Who is in charge of your life? If it is you, then you have good reason to worry. But since I am in charge, worry is both unnecessary and counterproductive. When you start to feel anxious about something, relinquish the situation to Me. Back off a bit, redirecting your focus to Me. I will either take care of the problem Myself or show you how to handle it. In this world you will have problems, but you need not lose sight of Me.”
Last night and again this morning we experienced loud thunderstorms. We lost power twice last night and it went out briefly this morning. And I loved how that power powerfully reminds me right here and right now of the power of Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit. Have you ever experienced an awareness from God? Yesterday before the storms, for a brief moment, I felt like a small child walking with Jesus, trustingly hand-in-hand and looking up to Him. And I realized that though I feel old at 72, that though I feel every cell in my body slowing, compared to our Creator, we are all of us children! When our power went out, I wondered what it was like living when Jesus walked our earth with us, what it would have been like to be with Him. Candlelight when darkness fell. Walking everywhere. More attuned to the rhythms and seasons of life we can so easily forget in our air conditioned and heat controlled environments. I can’t imagine a night sky filled with stars so present they feel close enough to touch in wonder. I would love to experience that just once before I die.
I’m reading the book Amazing Truths How Science and the Bible Agree by Dr. Michael Guillen, a former Harvard physics instructor, former ABC News Science Editor, mathematician, astronomer, physicist. Quantum sciences blew open everything that could be tested and verified by scientific methods alone. Light and gravity. Two things we take for granted and that science has yet to fully understand. Even Einstein had to feel childish intellectually compared to what he himself pioneered discovering about our “quantum” universe. Guillen quotes Einstein, “Science without religion is lame; religion without science is blind.” Guillen talks about IQ – Intellectual Quotient; and SQ – Spiritual Quotient. Separately they are like the quote Einstein made. We need both to fully live into all that God has for us. Are we willing? I think that’s where our forgotten inner, joyful childish wonder and curiosity leads as we begin to remember we can take His hand! – as we, His children dearly loved, are touched by thoughts from God.
