I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do. Exodus 4:15.
Add to your…brotherly kindness…love. 2 Peter 1:5, 7. The love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. Romans 5:5. Love one another as I have loved you. John 15:12. The Lord…is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish. 2 Peter 3:9.
And continuing our 351 Old Testament prophecies, promises of God, fulfilled in Jesus Christ, we come to number 27: His Character-Holiness. Exodus 15:11: Who is like You among the gods, O Lord? Who is like You, majestic in holiness, awesome in praises, working wonders? And, Luke 1:35; Acts 4:27: The angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God. For truly in this city there were gathered together against Your holy servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose predestined to occur.
I loved in the Devotions for Women by Ann Spangler this morning, when she talked about the daughter of a Rabbi who shared that on the evening of Sabbath, after the candles had been lit and they were to enjoy a special meal together with family and friends, certain topics were avoided that brought only pain while others bringing a sense of celebration and restfulness were brought forward. Yesterday was a painful day for me and I don’t want to live into that pain. And God reminded me to open my heart to His love (faith); to let His peace dwell gently in my thoughts (hope); to let my spirit be with Him (love) – Faith, Hope, Love. Whether with the never-ending pain of this worlds choices or in our own personal relationships, how deeply we all of us need Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit. Jesus came and brought to us a different way of seeing the Father that brings healing as we let Him guide us. Condemnation tears us apart inwardly and outwardly. Jesus brought His Spirit of forgiveness that we could live trusting Him for all that is good and needed. I can’t do this without Him. My whole being slides effortlessly into the darkness of remembered pain that only cuts deeper ruts holding me captive, and I’m only one person among multitudes. This world of all of us collectively chooses the pain that comes with not trusting Creator God for all things. No wonder we are so lost! O Lord, it is You who made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and all that is in them, who by the Holy Spirit, through the mouth of our father David, Your servant, said, “Why did the Gentiles rage, and the peoples devise futile things? The kings of the earth took their stand, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord and against His Christ.” Acts 4:24-26. Sobering words we need to take deep within personally. Let the Light God brings shine into that awful darkness so He can expose our hearts to His wonderful healing Love so needed for our world and for each of us.
