Is Jesus Truly Your Lord and Teacher?

You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13.

Be ready in season and out of season. 2 Timothy 4:2.

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to Him. Psalm 24:1.

And continuing our 351 Old Testament prophecies fulfilled in Jesus Christ, we come to number 15: The Seed of Jacob. Genesis 28:14: Your descendants will also be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south; and in you and in your descendants shall all the families of the earth be blessed. And, Luke 3:34: …the son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, the son of Terah, the son of Nahor…

The genealogy just above continues to the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God. To the very beginning of us all. The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to Him. In our world today we are seeing division and strife and violence against one another played out immediately all over our news. And our hearts are growing cold and condemning. What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore the more important aspects of the law – justice, mercy, and faith. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things. Matthew 23:23 NLT. Justice, mercy and faith. Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit, is that – justice, mercy, faith; and so much more: compassion, holiness, love, grace, kindness, wisdom. He didn’t come to condemn as we are so eager to do. He came to save. Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.” Matthew 16:24. I don’t know how to do that. But Jesus took up His cross for all of us – the world and all its people. I’ve asked God in prayer to show me how to repent because I’m not sure I really know what that means. You call Me Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for so I am. If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you. Truly, truly, I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him. If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.” John 13:13-17. Jesus is our Lord and Teacher, not me or any person or nation or fellow servant. I cannot teach myself the wisdom for Life only God can teach. He had compassion for the humanity He saw suffering then and for the humanity He sees suffering now. God’s compassion is the great leveler of us all because we all of us need His compassion – and we all of us need to learn how to be compassionate. Justice and Mercy met at the Cross of Jesus in His Faithful Love for the Father and for us all. And we are blessed by His compassion. You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart. With all our heart found in Him, He asks us to take up our own cross in this present world of immense suffering and follow Him, our Lord and Teacher. What does that mean but to ask Him with all your heart and trust Him to show you the way He wants you to go with Him. Because when we seek Him with all our heart, our true journey into all eternity with Him begins. What burdens do we need to set down so we can follow Him? For me – self righteousness, anger, judging, trusting myself to my hurt thinking I know everything when I know nothing, not trusting my Lord and Teacher. And absolutely everything He shows me that holds me back! Look how big my beam is in my own eyes keeping me blind to Him. I’m so weary of that burdensome weight. He longs to lift it. I’m beginning to want to let Him.
