Bring Every Lament To God Who Knows and Understands

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Philippians 2:3.

We all, with unveiled face, beholding…the glory of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:18.

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14.

And continuing our 351 Old Testament prophecies fulfilled in Jesus Christ, we come to number 12: As Isaac’s seed, will bless all nations. Genesis 22:18: In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice. And, Galatians 3:16: Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as referring to many, but rather to one, “And to your seed,” that is, Christ.

Living in the midst of everything going on in our world today, do you ever feel overwhelmed? I feel the pressing in and it brings sorrow and pain. And then I think of Jesus the Son, who bore everything from every single one of us through all time. He did that for us. I’m so thankful He was also able to experience the joys and sharing of people’s lives who loved and trusted Him. That balance is so needed for all of us. As I’m learning to walk with Him, I give Him everything. Fear, the awful sorrows of failure, the not knowing what is next and whether I am able to handle it, the lament. I looked up lament and it said, “A lament is a passionate expression of grief, sorrow, or regret, often performed as a song, poem, or cry to mourn the dead or lament a great loss. Originating from the Latin lamentum (“wailing, moaning”), its purpose is to verbally process pain, protest suffering, or serve as a musical memorial. Key characteristics include profound sorrow, wailing, and sometimes a journey from pain to trust.” And I realized that He is the one who helps me journey from pain to trust in Him. And I give profound thanks for all He is able to hold and heal and redeem. You never walk alone when you walk with God. His Presence is the comfort and strength that carries us when we are weak and His love is what lifts us up to communion with Him that is personal and familiar in its love and tender care. My pain is but one small drop in the ocean depth of all of our pain. I can’t imagine bearing all of that pain, because I can’t. He did. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” Revelation 21:3-4. In Jesus who carried all of our pain and sin, all the nations of the earth shall be blessed.
