Be Willing

But the Lord Almighty will be exalted by his justice, and the holy God will be proved holy by his righteous acts. Isaiah 5:16.

The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17.

Are you willing to be corrected for your good? And who can correct us for our good? Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit. I think we first need to start with what is good. At its most basic level, what is good? At its most basic level, what is not good? If you listen quietly, your heart will recognize what is good and will rejoice in that goodness so hard to define on an elemental, basic level but that brings a rightness we all of us need. To be loved is good. To be loved by our Creator is Love. As we grow in His love, we long for what is better. It’s not easy in this world to love. The accuser is right there bringing discord and hate and judging not based upon love. That is not good. I can’t help but wonder why the accuser is so filled with hate and anger. Are we? Does hate and anger fill our thoughts and spill into our hearts? The writer of our psalm, Psalm 120, was filled with dismay for what the nations around him were doing. What did he do? I call on the Lord in my distress, and he answers me. v. 1. Be willing to call upon the Lord and listen in quiet. Push out the voice of the accuser and listen. What do you not hear? Hate, anger, judging. Save me, Lord, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues. v. 2. I can’t help thinking he’s asking for saving from the lying lips and deceitful tongue of our accuser. Too long I have lived among those who hate peace. v. 6. The accuser hates peace. When you are ready to stop listening to the accuser, listen to God.

The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. Only God can save us. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. He will quiet us with His love. There is something so beautiful and so needed in God’s Love. To hear God, we need to quiet the voice of the accuser. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died – more than that, who was raised to life – is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Romans 8:34. Be willing to listen to God. Let it be His understanding we seek and trust. Are you not sure how? Ask. When you call upon the name of the Lord, He hears and answers in the small, quiet voice deep within your being of God’s love for you. Once you receive that affirmation, you will recognize His voice guiding you forward to Him in love, correction, hope. Only our God can bring us His peace given in His Love. Only God. He corrects in love for our good. Do you want what is Good? Listen to our God. He works with each one of us on a deep, personal level because He loves each one of us. We just each of us need to be willing. It’s personal, you and God. Be willing…He is.

    • Thank you, Alan! I know you understand when I say encouragement and blessing comes from God and I’m so thankful for His voice in my thoughts, in the sermons and blogs of others who love Him that we are blessed to receive.
