Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. Proverbs 3:5 AMP.
The Lord has been my defense, and my God the rock of my refuge. Psalm 94:22 NKJV.
God did this so they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being. Acts 17:27, 28.
David was a king and a mighty warrior and he turned to Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit, every time he was in peril. David knew it wasn’t by his own strength that he was saved. In this psalm, Psalm 69, are many verses quoted in Scripture. Why? Because in deep distress we need God. Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my neck…I sink in the miry depths, where there is no foothold…I have come into the deep waters; the floods engulf me…I am worn out calling for help; my throat is parched. My eyes fail, looking for my God…v. 1-3. What good does it do to pray? But I pray to you, Lord, in the time of your favor; in your great love, O God, answer me with your sure salvation…Rescue me from the mire, do not let me sink; deliver me from those who hate me, from the deep waters…Do not let the floodwaters engulf me or the depths swallow me up or the pit close its mouth over me…v. 13-15. Because in God alone is our help. David’s own heart is failing him; others hate David…where can we go in the midst of that anguish and peril of heart and soul? To the One who understands. For the zeal of your house consumes me, and the insults of those who insult you fall on me…I looked for sympathy, but there was none, for comforters, but I found none…They put gall in my food and gave me vinegar for my thirst…v. 9, 20, 21. And what did Jesus say when it was darkest? “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” Luke 23:46. But as for me, afflicted and in pain – may your salvation, God, protect me…I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving…This will please the Lord more than an ox, more than a bull with its horns and hooves…The poor will see and be glad – you who seek God, may your hearts live!…The Lord hears the needy and does not despise his captive people…Let heaven and earth praise him, the seas and all that move in them, for God will save Zion and rebuild the cities of Judah…Then people will settle there and possess it; the children of his servants will inherit it, and those who love his name will dwell there…v. 29-36.
This coming Monday we will be able to witness, clouds permitting, the total eclipse of the sun. Even now the sun, moon and earth are moving toward that very special alignment that for us living in that particular path will not happen again for 300 years. He also enables our hearts to move toward Him. In our deepest need, our hearts cry out for help. His love is there always. Let His love dwell richly in you because He cares for you and it is always your choice to accept Him. Accept Him. Let Him draw you close and give you comfort and peace. He is here. Always. And then begin a journey with Him into eternity that is filled with moments of clarity and enlightenment of His truth and love. Your world will never be the same. It will be better!
