What Is Next?

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he willmake your paths straight.Proverbs 3:5-6.

I had an interesting conversation with two of our grandkids yesterday as we were eating lunch. I don’t even remember how the conversation started but one of our grandkids knew that Jesus had died but thought He was still dead…since He died. That made sense, right? I was surprised. We just finished celebrating when our Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit – fulfilled everything written in Scripture. Why was it written? How can it matter to us today? What is next? Everything!

Now begins our journey with our Creator who loves us so much He became flesh as we are flesh that He created. He experienced the same emotions we feel. He experienced joy as we experience joy. He experienced what it was to be hungry, to wait. He experienced what it was to trust the Father for everything. He experienced suffering. He experienced death. He experienced resurrection to Life.

We just celebrated Jesus’s birth. Is that how we see Him still? On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices theyhad prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them.In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?He is not here; he has risen!Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee:‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’”Then they remembered his words.Luke 24:1-8.

What is next for us? Our choice always. A closer walk in trust with our Lord and Savior who was raised and is guiding us faithfully…or…walking alone ultimately in choosing our own way that we think is better. I want to know our Creator now. Why do we look for the living among the dead? He is risen. He is alive and here now. He is more alive than you and me! Take His hand. He’s here always and He is loving you so much He gave His life of flesh to be our resurrection from the dead. Our God has never done what we have expected throughout all the ages of created mankind. We may not understand what He is doing and why He doesn’t do anything as we would do it. Is that so surprising? Really? Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding! Thank You, Lord, for so great a Love! Thank You for delighting us with the unexpected!
