Trust

Last night I woke up after falling asleep and God’s word was right there foremost in my thoughts. Have you ever had that happen to you? A Bible verse is there and it’s as though a conversation was interrupted when you awoke.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

Have you ever seen and marveled at a photo of the earth viewed from the perspective of space? The first thing you notice is the beautiful blues and the white where clouds are and then you notice the land masses. What strikes me at that point is how big the earth is; a unique, beautiful orb suspended in darkness and held in quiet. I can’t help but wonder why it doesn’t fall. I can’t see the laws that hold our Earth and its’ Moon, the planets, the Sun in place I just know they are there and I marvel.

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? Psalm 8:3-4.

I love to read scripture because Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path (Psalm 119:105).

I woke up thinking trust in the Lord with all your heart and stayed awake thinking about trust. When I am worried about loved ones and there is no worry quite like worry for those you love, what I inevitably come to realize is that they like the beautiful Earth, like me and you, are held in God’s care. I can’t always see His hand at work in the midst of worry but later when events unfold I gain a better perspective.

When viewed up close and personal on this amazing planet our perspective can’t appreciate long term because everything happening is immediate and close. Zoom out and the Earth revolves with precision by design so beautiful it’s breathtaking.

He does care for us. Which comes first…trust in God or faith that He cares? For me what comes first is realizing my need for Him. What sparked my need for Him was feeling lost in not understanding things too big for me. There was a hole in my soul that I sensed acutely could only be filled with His love….that was my first step which led to a walk with God which leads me to trust Him to light my path and walk with me. With that assurance, I can trust my loved ones to Him who cares for them just as surely as He cares for and sustains the heavens. And I rejoice because I can feel His peace deep within where His love dwells.

  1. Trusting God to the unbeliever seems a strange thing, because they don’t have a relationship with Him. In my experience when God wakes you in the middle of the night it is a sure indicator of His loving presence. Thank you for sharing your journey with Him in this post, God bless you sister.

    • That’s what I love so much about God…His love…and that love enables us to share our journey of faith. I’ve heard too often individuals I know not sure they believe and I truly believe sharing His love will help them; we know His love and are so blessed by that how can we not share?
