I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Psalm 32:8 NKJV.
I have been crucified with Christ…I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. Galatians 2:20.
Whatever is in your heart determines what you say. Matthew 12:34.
We come to our new chapter, Revelation 6. Then I saw when the Lamb broke one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying as with a voice of thunder, “Come.” I looked, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer. When He broke the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come.” And another, a red horse, went out; and to him who sat on it, it was granted to take peace from the earth, and that men would slay one another; and a great sword was given to him. When He broke the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, “Come.” I looked, and behold, a black horse; and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard something like a voice in the center of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not damage the oil and the wine.” When the Lamb broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come.” I looked and behold, an ashen horse; and he who sat on it had the name Death; and Hades was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by the wild beasts of the earth. When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God, and because of the testimony which they had maintained; and they cried out with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, will You refrain from judging and avenging our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” And there was given to each of them a white robe; and they were told that they should rest for a little while longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brethren who were to be killed even as they had been, would be completed also. I looked when He broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood; and the stars of the sky fell to the earth, as a fig tree casts its unripe figs when shaken by a great wind. They sky was split apart like a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. Then the kings of the earth and the great men and the commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains; and they said to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne; and from the wrath of the Lamb; for the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”
How can we truly understand when we are so used to wars and famines and pestilences and death…the “same old-same old”? And we keep living and seeking to survive with our own ideas of why and how. This I know. We know terror when we have no control. We don’t see the horsemen and their riders but we feel the impact. We will see and everyone will know when Jesus the Son, Creator God returns. We won’t have to wonder any longer. What about now? I loved this from My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers: “The inescapable spiritual need each of us has is the need to sign the death certificate of our own sin nature. I must take my emotional opinions and intellectual beliefs and be willing to turn them into a moral verdict against the nature of sin; that is, against any claim I have to my right to myself. Paul said, “I have been crucified with Christ.” He did not say, “I have made a determination to imitate Jesus Christ,” or, “I will really make an effort to follow Him” – but – “I have been identified with Him in His death.” Once I reach this moral decision and act on it, all that Christ accomplished for me on the Cross is accomplished in me. My unrestrained commitment of myself to God gives the Holy Spirit the opportunity to grant to me the holiness of Jesus Christ. “…it is no longer I who live…” My individuality remains, but my primary motivation for living and the nature that rules me are radically changed. I have the same human body, but the old satanic right to myself has been destroyed. “…and the life which I now live in the flesh…”, not the life which I long to live or even pray that I live, but the life I now live in my mortal flesh – the life which others can see, “I live by faith in the Son of God.” This faith was not Paul’s own faith in Jesus Christ, but the faith the Son of God had given to him (see Ephesians 2:8). It is no longer a faith in faith – but a faith that transcends all imaginable limits – a faith that comes only from the Son of God.” The “same old-same old” – conquering, war, famine, death, terror – is still being played out in our world today. But, our life changes as we turn to Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit. We begin to see and understand His love for us and His purpose for our Good with Him. Have you seen enough of the purpose of the deceiver…lies, hate, deceit, suffering, love of self instead of love for God and for one another? We don’t need to live in terror any longer. We have a Creator who loves us and His will for our good will be done! Can you imagine the relief when all sin is truly gone?
