I have been crucified with Christ. Galatians 2:20.
God so loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16.
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. Romans 8:2.
We come to our new chapter, 1 John 1, which the notes said was written by John the Apostle probably from Ephesus near the end of the first century. Read his words tenderly because John is sharing what he experienced first-hand with Jesus that we too can know, because he shared so beautifully the love of Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit. We can experience the difference God’s love can make in our own lives as we walk together with Him in His truth. Have we truly considered the faithful witness of all that sin does in us and in our world? Our witness is all that Creator God has done to save us from our sins so we can live anew with Him now and forever. What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life – and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us – what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete. This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.
If we say we have not sinned we deny the very reason Jesus the Son came. Creator God Himself came to live among us and show us His healing truth that we could turn back to Him. As we faithfully confess our sins to Him – that He already knows, it isn’t for His benefit but for ours. Can we give thanks for so great a love? And how desperately our world today needs God’s love. I can’t end the suffering in our world, no human can. But I can turn to God and confess my sins and my need for Him every day. My need for Him is what opens everything good because I know I no longer walk alone. I have entered into fellowship with Creator God and that is everything needed. I go to Him personally and He gives me the strength and hope I need. Not to walk alone but to walk with Him. If we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light…we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin…If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. That is why He came, so we could know. John shared what he knew first-hand: What we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also…so that you too may have fellowship with us…and indeed…our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ! And that is everything!
