Let Your Love Be Evident As You Follow God

God has said, “Never will I leave you never will I forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5.

Sometimes it’s needed to slow down and stop as we see the confusions, unrest, violence, and hate being stirred up. We can get so caught up in the emotions triggered that we allow those very things we see as wrong to grow inside of us. We forget Jesus’ admonitions against hate. We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world. 1 John 4:16-17. As He is…so also are we in this world. There is so much to understand as we live this life. Scripture -with God’s help to understand – helps. Being still with Him helps. Our chapter, 1 Thessalonians 4, helps. Finally then, brethren, we request and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us instructions as to how you ought to walk and please God (just as you actually do walk), that you excel still more. For you know what commandments we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God; and that no man transgress and defraud his brother in the matter because the Lord is the avenger in all these things, just as we also told you before and solemnly warned you. Now as to the love of the brethren, you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another; for indeed you do practice it toward all the brethren who are in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brethren, to excel still more, and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands, just as we commanded you, so that you will behave properly toward outsiders and not be in any need. But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.

As I see how unstable this world is today and am affected by that very instability, I need even more to follow Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit. I need to remember to look to Him and give to Him all my concerns and fears and doubts. He knows. It is His love that will bring needed healing for our world and for each of us. Hate compounds all wounds and rips apart brutally. God’s love brings healing and clarity for what is good and needed in each of us. We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. That is such an incredible blessing. Don’t let go of that blessing! Hold fast to Him and pray for the needed healing God alone brings to each heart in need of Him. More and more I’m realizing how much I need God’s love to guide and sustain me…and all of us. It takes great need for us to realize our need for Him. Our great need brings us to Him. His love meets us and brings hope.
