There Is A Way and It Is With God With Us

For the word of the Lord is right and true; He is faithful in all He does. Psalm 33:4.

As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him. Psalm 18:30 NKJV.

The teaching Jesus, the Son, gives in this chapter, Mark 10, is beautifully connected in what was always intended from the beginning for us. First the Pharisees test Jesus about divorce. And His answer? “At the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’ ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” v. 2-9. “One flesh” doesn’t abuse or degrade or dishonor. God joins and His love is shown so beautifully in little children who know how to trust and love, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And He took the children in His arms, placed His hands on them and blessed them. v. 14-16. And in a different way with a different heart, a young man ran up to Jesus, fell on his knees and asked, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” And Jesus orients him to God who alone is good. And knowing this young man has kept the commandments just as he said he has from childhood, Jesus loves him. “One thing you lack,” He said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.” v. 17-21. One thing we lack. When we stand before Jesus, as we all will, it will be only us…no wealth, no prestige, nothing in this life will go with us. In our dying, everything will have been given up. And Jesus is resolutely going to Jerusalem where everything will be given up for us. “We are going up to Jerusalem,” He said, “and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn Him to death and will hand Him over to the Gentiles, who will mock Him and spit on Him, flog Him and kill Him. Three days later He will rise….You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” v. 33-34, 42-45. And on the way, in Jericho, a blind man, Bartimaeus, hearing the crowd and that Jesus is near, began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” v. 46-48. And what does the crowd do? They rebuked him. What does Jesus do? Jesus calls him over and asks him what he wants. His answer? “Rabbi, I want to see.” v. 51-52. Do we want to see? More than anything? “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road. v. 52. Do we want to see what was intended from the very beginning that no darkness of this world can hide? The light of God’s love for us is our life! Do we want to see, truly see, the love that joins us to Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit, in our marriages, in our love and trust as of the very children we are to the Father regardless of our age, wealth, status, importance or complete lack of importance in this world? I want to see! And when I spend time in God’s word given for us, when I pray directly to Him, when I listen to His thoughts forming within me, it is His presence that gives me hope….because the word of the Lord is right and true…He is faithful in all He does. His way is perfect. The word of the Lord is proven. He is a shield to all who trust in Him! From the very beginning….God is Good!
