The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” Genesis 12:1-3.
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and He will dwell with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:3-4.
Both of the above Scripture verses were in the notes below for our chapter, Zechariah 2. How could they not be? The plan of Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit, has been from before the creation and all things will be accomplished through His love for us, His children dearly loved. “Escape, you who live in Daughter Babylon”? That’s us living in this broken world’s systems – from Adam and Eve, and Abraham, and all of us living and yet to be. Then I looked up, and there before me was a man with a measuring line in his hand. I asked, “Where are you going?” He answered me, “To measure Jerusalem, to find out how wide and how long it is.” While the angel who was speaking to me was leaving, another angel came to meet him and said to him, “Run, tell that young man, ‘Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the great number of people and animals in it. And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will be its glory within.’ Come! Come! Flee from the land of the north,” declares the Lord, “for I have scattered you to the four winds of heaven,” declares the Lord. “Come, Zion! Escape, you who live in Daughter Babylon!” For this is what the Lord Almighty says: “After the Glorious One has sent Me against the nations that have plundered you – for whoever touches you touches the apple of His eye – I will surely raise My hand against them so that their slaves will plunder them. Then you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent Me. Shout and be glad, Daughter Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you,” declares the Lord. “Many nations will be joined with the Lord in that day and will become My people. I will live among you and you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent Me to you. The Lord will inherit Judah as His portion in the holy land and will again choose Jerusalem. Be still before the Lord, all mankind, because He has roused Himself from His holy dwelling.” v. 1-13.
Living in this broken world there is so much confusion and it will not always be so. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away…For I am coming to live among you…and the wonderful truth is that He is with us now. When I think of how big all of creation is, and our whole planet, and all the people living now and then and yet to be, it gets overwhelming. It’s too vast for me to comprehend. I was ready and wanting to live with Jesus when I was a small child…it was then that I understood all that was needed and good. It has taken a lifetime of experience since to realize…He has always been with me and with you when we have eyes to see, hearts to long, minds to seek. On that day you will know that I am in My Father, and that you are in Me and I am in you. John 14:20. Can we take that in? He is in us now and we are in Him now! We will each of us find no greater blessing than the love of Creator God. Adam and Eve chose the lie. Creator God knew beforehand; and He is the One working always for our good in His love that brings the truth of His love into our hearts. It takes time and experiencing life without walking with Him to see how confused this world truly is. But listen again to this promise! Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the great number of people and animals in it. And I Myself will be a wall of fire around it, declares the Lord, and I will be its glory within! Be still before the Lord, all mankind, because He has roused Himself from His holy dwelling! All mankind! Can we give thanks and look to Him now?
