The life-maps of God are right, showing the way to joy. Psalm 19:8 THE MESSAGE
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you really know Me, you will know My Father as well. From now on, you do know Him and have seen Him.” John 14:6-7.
There is an excerpt from My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers that resonated with me and our understanding of Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit, throughout all ages: “My misgivings arise from the fact that I search within to find how He will do what He says. My doubts spring from the depths of my own inferiority. If I detect these misgivings in myself, I should bring them into the light and confess them openly – “Lord, I have had misgivings about You. I have not believed in Your abilities, but only my own. And I have not believed in Your almighty power apart from my finite understanding of it.” Does that resonate with you? And reading our chapter, Ezekiel 30, I realized I need to understand that it is God who is at work in the nations then and now. This chapter is a lament for Egypt and for any nation imprisoned in pride and idolatry. The word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, prophesy and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Wail and say, “Alas for that day!” For the day is near, the day of the Lord is near – a day of clouds, a time of doom for the nations. A sword will come against Egypt, and anguish will come upon Cush. When the slain fall in Egypt, her wealth will be carried away and her foundations torn down…On that day messengers will go out from Me in ships to frighten Cush out of her complacency. Anguish will take hold of them on the day of Egypt’s doom, for it is sure to come…I will put an end to the hordes of Egypt by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon…I will dry up the waters of the Nile and sell the land to an evil nation…I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon and put My sword in his hand, but I will break the arms of Pharaoh, and he will groan before him like a mortally wounded man.’” v. 1-4, 9-10, 12, 24. Do we read Scripture and see how relevant it is to today? When I used to read Scripture, it seemed repetitive and boring. When I read with the desire to understand, I can’t help but see today. Powerful people abuse their power. They lead people astray. When I consider Scripture through the lens of God’s love for us, I see by the light of His love a darkness that has held us imprisoned in hate, pride, indifference to suffering, and worst of all, a darkness that tells us God is not real and we humans are god. But Creator God will not leave us in that darkness!
And remember as you read Scripture, as you live your life with Him guiding you…the love of Creator God illuminates clearly and beautifully the way and the truth and the life that is to be found as we walk with Him. He knows the way because He is the way! I read this yesterday and drew such strength from it: And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow – not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below – indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 NLT.
