To Live In Life With God

Man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Deuteronomy 8:3.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13.

In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:2-3 NKJV.

Last night watching on Zoom The Chosen Season 4, I was again struck by the closeness of Jesus and the disciples. Jesus came from the Father to live among us and to teach us truth so wonderful we have a hard time grasping it fully. My head swirls constantly with thoughts, feelings, memories, fears for a future that is not, and it’s exhausting. I suspect I am not alone in that. Yet Jesus came and lived among us. The disciples were just as confused as we would be because new understanding is hard to grasp. We are loved by Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit. He is not an idol, a graven image, a statue, an idea. He is Life. How do I go from my messy inner world of constant noise and live life with Him? I pray. Reaching out to Him brings a calm and peace nothing in this noisy world can. I needed His peace after a night of turmoil in my soul and after reading our chapter, Lamentations 4. I want to live life with our amazing God and I keep us apart. I want to experience joy with our God and reading again the experiences of those who rejected Him and the utter desolation they found themselves in, brings sadness to my soul. It didn’t have to be that way. It never has to be that way. Those who once ate delicacies are destitute in the streets. Those brought up in royal purple now lie on ash heaps. The punishment of my people is greater than that of Sodom, which was overthrown in a moment without a hand turned to help her. Their princes were brighter than snow and whiter than milk, their bodies more ruddy than rubies, their appearance like lapis lazuli. But now they are blacker than soot; they are not recognized in the streets. Their skin has shriveled on their bones; it has become as dry as a stick. Those killed by the sword are better off than those who die of famine; racked with hunger, they waste away for lack of food from the field…The kings of the earth did not believe nor did any of the peoples of the world, that enemies and foes could enter the gates of Jerusalem. But it happened because of the sins of her prophets and the iniquities of her priests, who shed within her the blood of the righteous. Now they grope in the streets as if they were blind. They are so defiled with blood that no one dares to touch their garments…Moreover, our eyes failed, looking in vain for help; from our towers we watched for a nation that could not save us. v. 5-9, 12-14, 17. What sorrowful words…we watched for a nation that could not save us. I can’t save any nation or person or even myself. I write a blog sharing chapter by chapter the truth God shares with us in Scripture, and any understanding does not come from me. Understanding does not come from any human. Every page of Scripture, every day of our lives shows us the folly of trusting in humans who are just as lost as we are in our own unbelief. It doesn’t have to be that way. Jesus came to show us the way. He lived with the disciples, with His family He was born into, with His hometown, with strangers He met, both Jew and Gentile. He looked into their eyes and they experienced something profound. The love of Creator God. We can live life with Him. Some chose to then. Some chose to reject Him. Our choice always right up until the time Jesus returns in the Father’s timing. One day we will each of us look into the eyes of our Creator God and see something profound. The One who saves us!
