Discover the Joy God’s Love Brings

For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations. Psalm 100:5.

Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. 2 Thessalonians 3:16.

My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 NKJV.

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27.

I loved this today from My Utmost For His Highest by Oswald Chambers: “May your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23. “Your whole spirit…” The great, mysterious work of the Holy Spirit is in the deep recesses of our being which we cannot reach. Read Psalm 139. The psalmist implies – “O Lord, You are the God of the early mornings, the God of the late nights, the God of the mountain peaks, and the God of the sea. But, my God, my soul has horizons further away than those of early mornings, deeper darkness than the nights of earth, higher peaks than any mountain peaks, greater depths than any sea in nature. You who are the God of all these, be my God. I cannot reach to the heights or to the depths; there are motives I cannot discover, dreams I cannot realize. My God, search me.” Do we believe that God can fortify and protect our thought processes far beyond where we can go? “The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). If this verse means cleansing only on our conscious level, may God have mercy on us. The man who has been dulled by sin will say that he is not even conscious of it. But the cleansing from sin we experience will reach to the heights and depths of our spirit if we will “walk in the light as He is in the light” (1:7). The same Spirit that fed the life of Jesus Christ will feed the life of our spirit. It is only when we are protected by God with the miraculous sacredness of the Holy Spirit that our spirit, soul, and body can be preserved in pure uprightness until the coming of Jesus – no longer condemned in God’s sight. We should more frequently allow our minds to meditate on these great, massive truths of God.”

And our chapter, Jeremiah 45, is short and packs so much truth of God’s love knowing what we are. The events in this chapter were taking place in Jeremiah 36:1-8; so the chapters are not in order of time happening. But…listen to what is true for each of us…When Baruch son of Neriah wrote on a scroll the words Jeremiah the prophet dictated in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, Jeremiah said this to Baruch: “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to you, Baruch: You said, ‘Woe to me! The Lord has added sorrow to my pain; I am worn out with groaning and find no rest.’ But the Lord has told me to say to you, ‘This is what the Lord says: I will overthrow what I have built and uproot what I have planted, throughout the earth. Should you then seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them. For I will bring disaster on all people, declares the Lord, but wherever you go I will let you escape with your life.’” v. 1-5. That’s the whole chapter. It may seem strange that I would speak of God’s love in this chapter, but the truth is, once we grasp that Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit, is in fact Creator God of all that is, then we can appreciate His truth and His love all the more. How can we begin to grasp color? Snow? Sunshine? People? This earth we take for granted, the nations as they are today that were not here millennia ago, our minds capable of wisdom and destruction. We are not in control. We never were. Creator God has a plan born of a purpose so beautiful and grand we can’t begin to conceive how it will come to be. But God knows. Baruch was undone by what he was transcribing. Remember, he is living through all Jeremiah is prophesying and this book is difficult and dark because it is describing us and our rebellions against Creator God to our hurt! If someone today prophesied all that will happen to each country in existence today, we would feel the same way as Baruch. But God took the time to help orient Baruch to the way of this life…God is in control. He will overthrow and uproot what needs to be overthrown and uprooted. Can we honestly say sin does not need to be overthrown and uprooted? And God understood Baruch’s dismay. He understands our dismay with the way of this broken world choosing sin. And God promised Baruch he would be safe. God understands our dismay and our worries; and never forget that God is in control. We would be foolish to trust in nations today. As you begin to trust Creator God, you will begin to trust Him for all things and be thankful He is God. God is holy and righteous and good! How we each of us need Him! He knows your need. He’s ready when you are and what you will receive in Him is His love and His peace and His faithfulness for your good in Him for all eternity.
