We do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Romans 8:26.
If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide in you forever – the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. John 14:15 NKJV.
How do you describe the closeness you experience with Creator God – Father…Son…Spirit? The patient guiding, the love that draws you near, the peace you know because you are loved by the One who holds all things. This morning in our Friday Retreat, we watched the part of the episode of The Chosen where Peter walked on water. He didn’t expect to do that that morning or the year before that. His life was forever changed because he lived with Jesus, the Son. “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to You on the water.” Lord if it’s you…tell me to come to You. What doubts drive us away from God? What need drives us to Him? Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” He said, “why did you doubt?” Matthew 14:28-31. Why do we doubt? And He is here always.
And our chapter, Isaiah 55, so beautiful. Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to Me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to Me; listen that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, My faithful love promised to David…Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and He will have mercy on them, and to our God, for He will freely pardon. For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is My word that goes out from My mouth: It will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands…This will be for the Lord’s renown, for an everlasting sign, that will endure forever. v. 1-3, 6-12, 13.
How do you begin to describe all that you receive from God? There are no words good enough. Don’t trust my words. Let your heart receive the love of God that surpasses all understanding. He will begin a good work in you that will endure forever!
