Our Hope Is The Love of God

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8.

We know that all things work together for good to those who love God. Romans 8:28.

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8.

When you choose to trust in the love of Creator God – Father…Son…Spirit, a burden is lifted. You can breathe. You begin to experience forgiveness and hope. In our chapter, Isaiah 54, God calls to Zion. He has not forgotten her. “Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood. For your Maker is your husband – the Lord Almighty is His name – the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; He is called the God of all the earth. The Lord will call you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit – a wife who married young, only to be rejected,” says your God. “For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with deep compassion I will bring you back. In a surge of anger I hid My face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you,” says the Lord your Redeemer. v. 4-8. In this world we can feel abandoned and rejected. We can wonder why there is so much distress we cannot account for. Remember God loves. His love brings healing. “To Me this is like the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth. So now I have sworn not to be angry with you, never to rebuke you again. Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet My unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor My covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you. “Afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted, I will rebuild you with stones of turquoise, your foundations with lapis lazuli. I will make your battlements of rubies, your gates of sparkling jewels, and all you walls of precious stones. All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace. In righteousness you will be established: Tyranny will be far from you; you will have nothing to fear. Terror will be far removed; it will not come near you. If anyone does attack you, it will not be My doing; whoever attacks you will surrender to you. v. 9-15. We know what is going on in this world of violence and that it will continue until Jesus returns. Tyranny and terror reign. Cities reduced to rubble remain a reality. How do we turn away from all of that? We turn to God. We turn to Him for understanding. We turn to Him for help in these troubled times. In turning to Him a burden is lifted. We can’t change or alter the course of world events careening toward the judgment of God so needed because of the violence we see. Only in God will righteousness be established, tyranny and terror far removed, and peace be great as we are taught and healed by the Lord. Our God has compassion because He knows and understands our hearts because He made them. He knows our weaknesses and our strengths. And He knows our deep need for Him to bring understanding and help only He can give. There is peace in the unfailing love God has for us and hope in His compassion and everlasting kindness. Turn to Him and remember a love so good and pure and needed. Can you imagine a greater need?
