Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. Colossians 3:1-3.
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. James 1:2-3 NKJV.
Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable His judgments, and His paths beyond tracing out! Romans 11:33.
When we go through personal crises, whatever they may be, we feel lost. What seemed so solid and sure before isn’t. We question our worth or why things are the way they are. I have always tried to be perfect and that was born out of insecurity but also out of a need for order so things would align to make sense. But I am not perfect and this world rarely makes sense anymore. What grounds me is knowing I am forgiven. Everything was forgiven on the cross. And my healing takes place in the love of Creator God – Father…Son…Spirit. I can’t heal anyone, myself included, God will.
That’s why this chapter, Isaiah 19, is so remarkable. See, the Lord rides on a swift cloud and is coming to Egypt. The idols of Egypt tremble before Him, and the hearts of the Egyptians melt with fear. “I will stir up Egyptian against Egyptian – brother will fight against brother, neighbor against neighbor, city against city, kingdom against kingdom. The Egyptians will lose heart, and I will bring their plans to nothing; they will consult the idols and the spirits of the dead, the mediums and the spiritists. I will hand the Egyptians over to the power of a cruel master, and a fierce king will rule over them,” declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty. v. 1-4. History – and does that not sound like today as well? But remember, God is. When they cry out to the Lord because of their oppressors, He will send them a Savior and defender, and He will rescue them. So the Lord will make Himself known to the Egyptians, and in that day they will acknowledge the Lord. They will worship with sacrifices and grain offerings; they will make vows to the Lord and keep them. The Lord will strike Egypt with a plague; He will strike them and heal them. They will turn to the Lord, and He will respond to their pleas and heal them. In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. The Assyrians will go to Egypt and the Egyptians to Assyria. The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together. In that day Israel will be the third, along with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing on the earth. The Lord Almighty will bless them, saying, “Blessed be Egypt My people, Assyria My handiwork, and Israel My inheritance.” v. 20-25.
We know what the Middle East is like today, what so many places are like today. And God is. In this life we go through testings and trials and we come to the realization that all of us, nations and kingdoms, too, are going through testings and trials. I am not equipped to heal anyone. But I can trust God who I know heals because He is healing me. I am not lost. Our God has me and you and everyone who turns to Him for healing so that we can share our hearts being healed and show those in need we are not perfect but our God is. Our holy, righteous God longs to take you into His arms and comfort you and show you He is the Father to us, His prodigal children, so in need of Him. In that day……
