Closeness With God

It is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:16.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. 1 Peter 5:6.

He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8 NKJV.

In reading our chapter, Song of Songs 3, She, Solomon’s bride, continues. At first she writes about awakening and he is not there so she goes and searches the streets for him, v. 1-5. I couldn’t help but think about the times that we search for Creator God – Father…Son…Spirit. And sometimes in our deepest need we feel alone. All night long on my bed I looked for the one my heart loves; I looked for him but did not find him. v. 1. And then in v. 5: Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you by the gazelles and by the does of the field: Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires. That same verse is repeated in 2:7, 5:8, 8:4. And then v. 6-10 describe Solomon coming in full regal splendor…Look! It is Solomon’s carriage, escorted by sixty warriors, the noblest of Israel…Look on King Solomon wearing a crown, the crown which his mother crowned him on the day of his wedding, the day his heart rejoiced.

Song of Songs…I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For He has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of His righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns His head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations…As a young man marries a young woman, so will your Builder marry you; as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you. Isaiah 61:10-11, 62:5.

When we choose life, we choose a closer walk with God. All of creation testifies about our God who creates. What does our life testify about us?
