Come and Follow Me

Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the word of His servant? Let him who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God. Isaiah 50:10.

Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him for the help of His presence. Psalm 42:5 NASB.

Therefore I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me. Micah 7:7 NKJV.

This morning I continued with a heavy heart and reading our chapter, Proverbs 17, didn’t really help. Speaking with Creator God – Father…Son…Spirit…in prayer did. With Him I can pour out my heart and confess my inadequacy for hope that is real and true. I think I need to stop watching the news of this world steeped in confusion and judging! He reminded me I cannot understand what cannot be understood now. Come…follow Him. I’ll share the parts of the verses that spoke to me of hope because I sorely need God’s hope! A crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests the heart, v. 3. How can that be hope? Because God knows my heart and what my heart needs and He is able to help me. A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity, v. 17. First God shows us His love and He shows us others with whom we can grow in love that is good and healing. Whoever builds a high gate invites destruction, v. 19b. He showed me this morning that I am building walls of safety within myself that are imprisoning me. A cheerful heart is good medicine, v. 22. Sometimes we can’t be cheerful but we can always turn to God and let Him touch our hearts, heavy-laden, and He will bring comfort and peace.

I’m currently reading the book Life Without Lack Living In the Fullness of Psalm 23 by Dallas Willard and I recommend it to anyone wanting to know our Shepherd who leaves no one behind. We need deeper understanding of our need for God. I don’t need the news of today or tomorrow. I need Creator God to show me a better way with Him and others wanting that closeness with Him to illuminate their hearts so in need of His love and care. All of Scripture helps but remember we need a Shepherd loving us enough to care and show us His bridge to understanding ourselves. I can’t impose my journey on anyone else. Let others walk their journey with God because He is the one who loves them and He is the one who loves you and me. It’s personal when we let God in. Are you ready to hear God whisper to you…Come and follow Me. Our choice always and our greatest need.
