Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community and their livestock and drink. Numbers 20:8.
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26.
You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11 ESV.
In prayer this morning Creator God – Father…Son…Spirit…reminded me to seek His joy and help in all things and to rejoice to know His will for us is bound in goodness. Water flowed from that rock despite Moses, in his anger with the Israelites, striking that rock. How often do we get things wrong and yet God works for our good? Whatever is needed. Remember the blessings because they come from our God who loves us…and He is here!
And our chapter, Proverbs 16, showing us in practical ways how to trust Him. All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord. v. 2. Do you think Moses thought about what his anger did in the hearts of the people watching? And yet God provided. That water flowed! My motives are not pure. It takes a lot to even be able to come to that realization but with God’s help it’s worth it! Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans…The Lord works out everything to its proper end – even the wicked for a day of disaster…Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for; through the fear of the Lord evil is avoided…In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps…The highway of the upright avoids evil; those who guard their ways preserve their lives…Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord…There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death…The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord…v. 3, 4, 6, 9, 17, 20, 25, 33.
Remember that rock? And looking at this world bent on doing what is not right and good enables us to think nothing good can come because the problems are too great – wars, hatred, addictions, poverty, predator abuses, violence…the list is endless! Water flowed from that rock! Nothing is impenetrable to God’s love and will for our good. His love is greater than any hate…His will is stronger than any barrier to good. Think of all the evil of every empire that came before and is no more. Remember and believe! The Lord works out everything to its proper end – even the wicked for a day of disaster…through love and faithfulness – sin is atoned for. That’s God’s love and faithfulness that atones for our sins! What tremendous love is this that will heal every sin and every hurt of mankind! We bring the disasters by our actions…God brings our healing through His love and will for all of His children, dearly loved. He is the only One who can and He is here working always for our good. Remember…and listen to His voice speaking to your spirit longing for good. His voice working in our hearts and our spirit is always good!
