As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven…so is My word that goes out from My mouth. It will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:9-11.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:5.
There are so many things to be uncertain of today and more and more we are all of us feeling that helplessness in the face of events we are powerless to change or understand. Eventually we all come up to that wall that stops us in our tracks. “This” isn’t right. What is right? Who decides? In our chapter, Proverbs 7, Solomon speaks of the adulterous woman but it could easily speak of the siren call of sin, whatever that sin is. At the window of my house I looked down through the lattice. I saw among the simple, I noticed among the young men, a youth who had no sense. He was going down the street near her corner, walking along in the direction of her house at twilight, as the day was fading, as the dark of night set in….Then out came a woman to meet him, dressed like a prostitute and with crafty intent. She is unruly and defiant, her feet never stay at home; now in the street, now in the squares, at every corner she lurks…v. 6-12. The darkness of sin.
This is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin. 1 John 1:5-7. We heard that verse yesterday in church, and the understanding that “fellowship with one another” is fellowship first of all with Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit. Fellowship with God. I googled fellowship and what God says about fellowship and it led me to 1 Corinthians 1:9…but lets go a little bit more…I always thank my God for you, because of His grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in Him you have been enriched in every way – with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge – God thus confirming our testimony about Christ among you. Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:4-9. With His Son…Fellowship with Jesus Christ our Lord. What are we doing? Are we faithful? God is. When you stand in front of that wall remember God is faithful and He is doing a good work in us for our good always. He doesn’t live in darkness because there is no darkness in Him at all. That’s why we can take His hand and find His love that heals every sin and every hurt from all darkness. God is light and in His light the darkness of sin vanishes and we can see His goodness and His mercy and His grace given because He loves us. His love will accomplish all that God desires, the purpose for which He sends it. Our salvation and restoration to Him who loves us. Fellowship with God. Imagine the healing that will be in all of us and the joy we will experience together with Him!
