We Need God’s Love

You guide me with Your counsel, and afterward You will receive me to glory. Psalm 73:24 ESV.

There are times when I truly don’t know what to say because it all becomes too big and I am so small. A candidate for governor recently said in a church that there are people needing killing…and the people clapped. Do we just want to kill one another until no one is left? Wars, violence in homes, in cities, in countries…in hearts and minds. Even this psalm, Psalm 144…David is fighting against enemies and praying for God’s help to win. Enemies. I looked up how many refugees there are now worldwide. “UNHCR most recently estimated that, by the end of 2023, for the first time in recorded history, the number of people forcibly displaced is now over 117.3 million.” David asked, Lord, what are human beings that You care for them, mere mortals that You think of them? v. 3. A really good question. The very end of the psalm gives me comfort because it speaks to a time yet to be…There will be no breaching of walls, no going into captivity, no cry of distress in our streets. Blessed is the people of whom this is true; blessed is the people whose God is the Lord. v. 14, 15.

There are people needing God’s love to penetrate the hate taking root in them. Who is your God? A god of war, a god of hate, a god of greed? A god of violence? That god has been overcome. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:3-4 NKJV.

I don’t know about you, but I long for our Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit. I need His counsel and His love showing me a better way and it’s with Him. Don’t kid yourself. Creator God loves the human beings, the mere mortals He created. We will never understand His love by hating one another. When you get tired and weary of the frenzy of hate, turn away to our God and ask for His help. Remember the children’s church song…Jesus loves me, this I know…for the Bible tells me so…For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. John 3:16-17. Lord, what are human beings that You care for them, mere mortals that You think of them? We are His children, dearly loved.
