Because of His glory and excellence, He has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share His divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires. 2 Peter 1:4 NLT.
This morning in prayer with Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit, I had a difficult time even writing down the thought He wanted me to see…My children are not evil, they are deceived by the evil one. How can that be? If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. At that time if anyone says to you, “Look, here is the Messiah!” or, “There he is!” do not believe it. For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you ahead of time. Matthew 24:22-25. Jesus also told us to pray for our enemies…share in His divine nature.
David understood how vital it was to trust God. He could tell God everything and we are blessed his words were written so we can see what a difference it makes to love and trust Almighty God and Him only to resolve the evil in this world caused by human desires influenced by the evil one. How I love this psalm. Psalm 139: You have searched me, Lord, and You know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; You perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; You are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue, You, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and You lay Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I go up to the heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in the depths, You are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there Your hand will guide me, Your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me,” even the darkness will not be dark to You; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to You. For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are Your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand – when I awake, I am still with You. If only You, God, would slay the wicked! Away from me, you who are bloodthirsty! They speak of You with evil intent; Your adversaries misuse Your name. Do I not hate those who hate You, Lord, and abhor those who are in rebellion against You? I have nothing but hatred for them; I count them as my enemies. Search me, God, and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
David knew that only Almighty God could lead us in the way everlasting and it is not the way of the evil of the evil one. David’s love and trust in God will one day help him to love those he called enemies in his day. How? “This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be My people. No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the Lord. “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” Jeremiah 31:33-34.
I don’t have the mind capacity to comprehend how God can love us that much, we who have caused so much harm – and there are so many of us! How precious to me are Your thoughts, God! How vast the sum of them…Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. Until Jesus returns, our human desires will continue in corruption that only Creator God can heal. In that blessed day, we will walk in newness of heart and mind with Him, and evil will be no more. I pray for that day and I pray for every person today because we each of us need God’s Love to heal us. Let Him show you how trustworthy and faithful He is and you will truly be able to say, not my will, Lord, but Yours!
