God’s Love Heals Us

If you love Me, keep My commands. John 14:15.

My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. John 15:12.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 1:8 NKJV.

This psalm, Psalm 136, has an answering stanza after each line…His love endures forever. Can we dwell here for just a bit? Almighty Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit, His love endures forever. When we begin to let that sink into our hearts we can continue with the following verses: Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good…Give thanks to the God of gods…Give thanks to the Lord of lords…to Him who alone does great wonders…who by His understanding made the heavens…who spread out the earth upon the waters…who made the great lights…the sun to govern the day…the moon to govern the night…He gives food to every creature…Give thanks to the God of heaven. More verses again describe what God did for ancient Israel but what about us today? To know that God saved ancient Israel is important and so is knowing He saves us with His love. His love endures forever. How is that important? Are we not tearing one another apart with our hatreds? My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Are we not limiting ourselves with our unbelief and reaping the consequences of spiritual emptiness without our God to guide us in His love?

I don’t want to dwell in the past. I want to look forward with God leading me. He alone brings understanding. We are all of us hurting and in pain. The shifting sand we stand upon in this age of man cannot be all there is. How many times and in how many ways do we need to be shown that the things we put our trust in will not save us? And yet, when we turn to God and ask for His help, He is there. Are you not sure how? Ask. He already knows your need, your fears, your questions, your uncertainty and your unbelief…and He knows the same for all of us. He knows. He understands. And He is ready to love us with a Love that endures forever. Forever. Are you ready to receive that kind of healing Love? Ask. He’s here. Always. And the beautiful benefit is that as you receive His Love, He will show you how to love others…and how to love yourself. We are so hard on ourselves and on others but we are all of us in pain and hurting. We have been hurt enough and we have hurt others enough! God’s Love endures forever! Let’s be healed together!
