Do You Want True Hope? Trust God

The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. Proverbs 4:18.

Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. John 15:4 NRSV.

Abide in Me…as I abide in you…have you ever really thought about those words? Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit, is so very patient. And then after you have been walking with Him and learning from Him, you realize ever so gently that hope is not in the future – abstract, elusive and intangible – but right here now with Him. As that hope grows the world and its choices are shown for what they truly are…lost and careening on the path of destruction. David understood that hope. Psalm 131: My heart is not proud, Lord, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me. But I have calmed and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child I am content. Israel, put your hope in the Lord both now and forevermore.

The problems of our world are too deep for me to understand. I keep thinking about the faithful ones who God led. They walked new ground of understanding but they needed God to help them trust. Especially given how problematic this world of our is, I pray God will help me every step of my walk with Him. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13. Paul wrote those words of encouragement for us and they were given to him by our God who loves and cares for us. There is a saying…God doesn’t give you more than you can handle. I think a better saying is that the world will give you more than you can handle. We won’t find answers in this world. With God’s help, I’m learning to let go of trusting in this world of ours. It keeps pulling at me! And all I find there is worry and more worry. My hope that is real and true is in God. He is here and abiding in us. Be willing to receive His help and His love and His peace guiding you forward with Him…and there with Him is our hope.
