The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace. Psalm 29:11.
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27 NKJV.
The peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7.
One of the things I so love about David, was his love for our Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit. His love for God drew him close in a way that is an example for all of us of what can be. And the beautiful thing is that once you experience God’s love your heart, too, will burst with joy! Psalm 108…My heart, O God, is steadfast; I will sing and make music with all my soul. Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. I will praise you, Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. For great is your love, higher than the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth. v. 1-5. David knew who his help was…Give us aid against the enemy, for human help is worthless. v. 12.
I keep thinking about the times we are living in today. Even if you knew nothing about our God, you would know something is very wrong. There is a lack of love and understanding so profound we are drowning in our own hate and ignorance. In our arrogance, we want to impose our will on everyone else because we are so sure of ourselves and our personal beliefs. That surety makes us impervious to correction.
But…when we reach the limit of our own personal understanding and are left wanting…our God is there. Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O Lord. They rejoice in your name all day long; they exult in your righteousness. Psalm 89:15-16. As we turn to God in trust and take His hand, the first thing we notice is His peace. One who is greater than us is here and He is in charge. He alone will bring good to this world so in need of His Love. Instead of fighting for causes we think are so important, trust God. Give everything to Him. David did. We can, too. The wrongness in this world of ours will not be solved by our efforts or in our timing. Only God’s righteousness will solve the problems we face. Only in Him will we find the love we long for. I don’t think we can begin to fathom the love of God. And His love is real and He is here. We can walk in the light of His Presence with Him and know His peace now. The journey of our life lived with God loving us. One day, in God’s perfect timing, everyone will have the opportunity to walk in His light. The choice will be theirs. I choose God.
