But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 2 Corinthians 4:7.

Do you ever read Scripture and feel unsettled? You have more questions than answers. I felt that reading this psalm, Psalm 99. The Lord reigns, let the nations tremble; he sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake. Great is the Lord in Zion; he is exalted over the nations. Let them praise your great and awesome name – he is holy. The King is mighty, he loves justice – you have established equity; in Jacob you have done what is just and right. Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy. Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel was among those who called on his name; they called on the Lord and he answered them. He spoke to them from the pillar of cloud; they kept his statutes and the decrees he gave them. Lord our God, you answered them; you were to Israel a forgiving God, though you punished their misdeeds. Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his holy mountain, for the Lord our God is holy.

I’m learning to slow down and read verses slowly and then read them again. And then I go to our Creator God – Father, Son, Holy Spirit, and ask for help in understanding. I don’t ever want to forget that our God is Holy. I don’t ever want to take Him for granted. I don’t want to presume I know things too wonderful for me. Earlier this week in prayer God told me to share with Him my inner soul and be still. That startled me and I wasn’t sure what my inner soul was. I shared that with my Spiritual Director and she suggested I stop now and pray…ask and listen. As I did that I was deep inside where it was spacious and I noticed green plants and a sense of water and I knew that was where God is with me. My inner soul is God with me. And I come to Him when I am troubled and He gives me His peace and restoration. He reminds me of His love. My joy in our God replaces fear from this world. He is what keeps me steady in the midst of turmoil swirling all around. He answers. And I can bring everything to Him! Our God, Holy…Faithful…Loving…is the giver of Life. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10. Is it any wonder we are jars of clay? And this treasure is our God loving us and if we are willing, shaping us into beautiful vessels. He answers in our need. And each step we take with Him builds faith and hope. With Him is the spacious place of His love for us and it is so Good!
