But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness…Matthew 6:33.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28.
This psalm, Psalm 43, is a continuation of the psalm before. I don’t know about you, but I am weary of the political ads taking over. We are in the primaries and this is also an election year. Please God, help us all. Vindicate me, my God, and plead my cause against an unfaithful nation. Rescue me from those who are deceitful and wicked. Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy? v. 1, 2. Last night we got the news of the death of our sister in Christ, who loved the Lord with a deep, abiding love. She had wonderful conversations with our Lord! She loved learning from Him and with Him. Now she is home with Him where there is no more pain or sorrow for the former things of this life are no more for her. You are God my stronghold. Send me your light and your faithful care, let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell. Then I will go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight. I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God…Why, my soul, are you downcast? Who so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. v. 2, 3, 4, 5.
Political ads are a sharp relief showing us how accustomed we are to lies and deceit and hate for “other”…for “them”. Can we see the negative in not knowing our Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit? Can we begin to see the need for His goodness and love, His holiness? He reminded me to be a light…but how can I when I am so downcast by the awfulness of lies permeating everything. He gently reminded me to be a light by loving Him. I can do that, Lord! Send me your light, and your faithful care…let them lead me, let them bring me to your holy mountain…to the place where you dwell. Our Lord and Savior can lead you out of the darkness by the light of His love and faithful care. You will never hear Him putting down others. You will experience Him lifting your face to see His love for you. In His Love is the light you long for that brings healing love to you and me and everyone longing for the Love only our Lord can bring. It matters not whether you knew Him in this life we live in a very broken world. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16. A powerful, abiding Love. Given for us all. When you are ready to experience that kind of love, ask. He’s here. Always.
