The Difficult Way

See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven? Hebrews 12:25.

I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Psalm 16:8.

We come to a psalm, Psalm 36, that speaks of the difficult way this world chooses when it chooses life without God. We choose when we choose to live apart from God. I have a message from God in my heart concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: There is no fear of God before their eyes. In their own eyes they flatter themselves too much to detect or hate their sin. The words of their mouth are wicked and deceitful; they fail to act wisely or do good. Even on their beds they plot evil; they commit themselves to a sinful course and do not reject what is wrong. v. 1-4. We are so steeped in the difficult way we think it foolishness to believe God has any part in our actual daily lives. We can’t see His Presence so He must be far away and not care how we are treated or how we treat others. What difference does it make how we live? All the difference in this world of ours. And it begins with our Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit. Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep. You, Lord, preserve both people and animals. How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings. They feast on the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your river of delights. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light. Continue your love to those who know you, your righteousness to the upright in heart. May the foot of the proud not come against me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away. See how the evildoers lie fallen – thrown down, not able to rise! v. 5-12.

Jesus, the Son, came to show us the stark difference between the difficult way chosen by this world steeped in Sin, and the Way of Life lived with God guiding us into His truth and His love. It has always been a choice for each one of us. I choose Almighty God. I trust Him to show me where I am blinded so that with Him I can walk in the Light of His Love. His is a Good path and so worth walking with Him.
