Press In


Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!Amen.Ephesians 3:20-21.

The word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.Hebrews 4:12.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.Psalm 119:105.

It takes great love to overcome the world…and Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit – is that Love. David knew that and pressed in to God. He wrote songs of love to God and of supplication and cries for help. In this psalm, Psalm 25, he speaks intimately of God and the help God gave to him. In you, Lord my God, I put my trust.I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me.No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause. v. 1, 2, 3. Do we see today people who act treacherously? Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths.Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior; and my hope is in you all day long. v. 4, 5. Do you ever consider that you need to be saved or what you need to be saved from? That is a starting point. Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love, for they are from old…Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you, Lord, are good…Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways…All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful…v. 6, 7, 8, 10. I love this verse: The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them. v. 14. What does all of this speak to? Press in! Because my hope, Lord, is in you.v. 21.

Press in to God’s love for you. He guides our understanding of Him and of ourselves. We live in a world in opposition to God. Overly dramatic? Look around. Can you truly not see what our opposition to God does to our hearts and minds and the effect that has on our world? How about on your own heart and mind? His power is at work within us as we press in to Him. How do we press in? Realize our need and ask God for help. Realize that He alone can save you. No one else. Especially not you…and especially not me. We are in this need together. It takes great Love to overcome this world and He did that in His great Love for you and me. The sword He used was the Truth of His Love given for us…His children…every one. Thank You, Lord God, for so great a Love! Help us to press in to You and learn from You. Increase our understanding as we walk with You and away from all that harms us with Your help always.
