God Will Lead You Faithfully

Since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.1 Thessalonians 5:8.

A remarkable thing happens when we turn to our Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit. We have His attention. He has our attention. Now this…is…eternal life:that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.John 17:3. Present tense, present hope, present being. David understood that in the unique way few of us will because David was tasked to be king of God’s chosen people. A people chosen to know God. Eternal life. The beginning of our chapter, Psalm 21, shows David appreciating God as a king appreciates and knows Who his strength is. The king rejoices in your strength, Lord. How great is his joy in the victories you give!…Through the victories you gave, his glory is great…For the king trusts in the Lord; through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken. v. 1, 5, 7. Can you imagine? And what about us? You have granted him his heart’s desire and have not withheld the request of his lips…Surely you have granted him unending blessings and made him glad in the joy of your presence…Through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken. v. 2, 6, 7. The “he” is David, the “he” is us. The Lord, our God, is our King. Be we a king or be we a regular person, God, the King of all, is our help always. Your hand will lay hold on all your enemies; your right hand will seize your foes. When you appear for battle, you will burn them up as in a blazing furnace. The Lord will swallow them up in his wrath, and his fire will consume them…Though they plot evil against you and devise wicked schemes, they cannot succeed. You will make them turn their backs when you aim at them with drawn bow.v. 8, 9, 11, 12. Only God can destroy the evil in our world. God is not shaken by the evil. God is present with us as He leads us forward into His unfailing love for us and for others.

How can we know that as David knew that? How can we know that as any hero of the Scriptures knew that? We take God’s hand and let God lead us. We are as imperfect as was David and was every hero of Scripture. The heavyweight hero’s of Scripture – Daniel, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Paul, Abraham…trusted God and not themselves. They learned with God leading them that He is their help for all things. All things. This…is eternal life. Knowing our God and Jesus Christ whom He sent. Ask. He is with you now and He is with us always.
