You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life. John 5:39, 40.
How do we begin to understand? Yesterday in church we were all there when two young men were baptized and I couldn’t help but wonder at the journey they are beginning with their walk with Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit. This morning in prayer I expressed how very much I want to be with Him now…just to open a door and be with Him! I already am. Those two young men already are. God With Us means He is with us in the messiness of our lives now. And this beautiful psalm, Psalm 20, shows us how. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. v. 7. David is expressing the desire that is already here now with us…May the Lord answer you when you are in distress…May he send you help from the sanctuary…May he remember all your sacrifices…May he give you the desire of your heart…May we shout for joy over your victory…v. 1-5.
We trust in the name of the Lord our God…God With Us. In thinking about the people who have gone before us in the pages of Scripture, how can we not think about Jesus…God With Us…becoming real in our everyday lives with the Holy Spirit showing us the Father’s love for us. Our day is filled with moments of being with God. Present with Him and accounted for. How? Trust Him to be with you…now. Open your eyes, your heart, your thoughts and know He is near and with you now. Others may trust in chariots and horses…but we trust in our God With Us. Thank You, Lord, for helping me see that the path I long to be on is my life with You now.
