Through the Eyes of God’s Love

How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path.Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.Psalm 119:103-105.

We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.Ephesians 2:10.

When I sit in quiet with God and His peace surrounds me, I see glimpses of beauty with colors so pure and beautiful. And I open my eyes and it feels like a revolving door where only glimpses of beauty can be briefly seen; the muted colors of this world are there too. So it is in reading Scripture. There are passages so beautiful I glimpse into God’s love and into His Kingdom. And there are passages like Psalm 14. Psalm 14 shows life without God, life that was chosen to be without God. The fool says in his heart “There is no God.”They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good. v. 1. That sounds so drastic and yet Paul quoted this Psalm and others when he expanded upon the reality of those who choose evil so we can see it for what it is: What shall we conclude then?Do we have any advantage? Not at all!For we have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under the power of sin.As it is written:There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God.Allhave turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit. The poison of vipers is on their lips.Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.Their feet are swift to shed blood; ruin and misery mark their ways, and the way of peace they do not know. There is no fear of God before their eyes.Romans 3:9-18. And back to David…The Lord looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. v. 2. Jesus asked the same question…When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?Luke 18:8. That’s a question we each must answer.

I’m learning in my own walk with God to trust Him. He is showing me the beauty in the path with Him and His word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path prepared beforehand that I should walk in it. I have known the comfort of God’s love throughout my life. I have also known the desolation in my soul when I thought I was alone; that way was a dreary grey. As I look back I realize that God has always been gentle in His calling. He has never forced the truth of His love upon me. He has gently nudged…thoughts not my own have brought me peace and hope. I wish I could say I have been so considerate of others. We each of us have a choice always. My prayer is that God will gently whisper His love to you and in turning to Him you will experience the gentleness and the beauty of His truth. Only then will your eyes be open to the beauty of the Love He offers you. Not by my words…by taking His hand and trusting Him to guide you faithfully. Many of us have come out of churches that have done great harm. They like to force. They like to control. Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit – always gives us a choice. He lets us experience our lives without Him and He is always only a whispered prayer away. And through the eyes of His Love we begin to heal. It’s a journey taken in great patience and trust in our God who is faithful. We have so much to learn. When Jesus came to be with us, they were shocked by how different His truth was. He came to show us the Father’s love for us. Not everyone trusted Him but those who did were changed forever. Seeing through the eyes of God’s love for us changes us. Thank You Lord!
