God Is Faithful

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities – all things were created through him and for him.And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.Colossians 1:15-17.

The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.Zephaniah 3:17.

How can we live such fragmented lives? How can we call out to God when we are in distress and not turn to Him in trust always? That seemed like a question God was asking in Psalm 4.How long will you people turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods? v. 2. David was crying out to God – Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God.Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer. v. 1. This psalm seems to me like words of God amidst David’s prayer of seeking. Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself…v. 3. Who was God’s Faithful Servant? For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.John 6:38. David was able to say, the Lord hears when I call to him, v. 3. Jesus, the Son, also knew the Father heard when He called to Him. Jesus drew near to the Father throughout His time on this earth. He needed that closeness. So do we. Tremble and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your heart and be silent.Offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in the Lord. v. 4, 5. Trust in the Lord…the lesson of the Faithful Servant Who knew God is faithful. Trust in the Lord. Many, Lord, are asking, “Who will bring us prosperity?”Let the light of your face shine on us.Fill my heart with joy when their grain and new wine abound. In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety. v. 6, 7, 8.

For You alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.Let the light of Your face shine on us. This world spins ever faster without ever drawing near to God. And the result? Everything we see happening we cannot understand. We turn to God when our need is great. Our need is great. Turn to Him. He’s here. Always. Let God guide you in His love for you. It’s personal. This life we are each of us living is our journey to our trust in our Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit - He is faithful. Always.
