Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. Proverbs 3:5 AMP.
Our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 2 Corinthians 4:17.
He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:25.
There are times when my heart hurts with things I cannot comprehend and shy away from. I can worry my being into a deep rut; and the replaying of the worry over and over buries me deeper and deeper without relief. And then…He reminds me He knows. In giving my worries to God – Father, Son, Spirit – I begin to understand…Lean on Him…Trust in Him…Be replenished and restored in hope in Him…because I have none without Him and with Him is my hope.
Job reminds me of all of us who rail against what our experiences have not prepared us for. Who can be prepared for calamity? And then I remember that our Creator God has seen all that humanity can do. When God asks Job, Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him? Let Him who accuses God answer him! Job 40: 2, Job has no answer. He tried twice to speak but couldn’t. Job came face-to-face with his own lack. When I come face-to-face with my own lack, I turn to God even to ask how to pray for the good I long for for others. God saw a need in Job. He sees our need. We can’t see our need clearly. If we lean on God and trust in Him, He will help us through. God says remarkable truths in this chapter. Would you discredit my justice? Would you condemn me to justify yourself? Do you have an arm like God’s, and can your voice thunder like his? Then adorn yourself with glory and splendor, and clothe yourself in honor and majesty. Unleash the fury of your wrath, look at all who are proud and bring them low, look at all who are proud and humble them, crush the wicked where they stand. Bury them all in the dust together; shroud their faces in the grave. Then I myself will admit to you that your own right hand can save you. v. 8-14. And there it is. My own right hand cannot save me or anyone else…but God can.
The Word made flesh, Jesus the Christ, knows our hearts. He knew what was in all men. He didn’t shy away and He didn’t condone the sins that bring us so much pain. He told us to repent and sin no more. Turn away from doing evil. Our right hand cannot save us or anyone else. But we can turn to the One who can and who intercedes for us. He is not interceding to an angry Father who has to be appeased. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:16-17. And what does Jesus, the Son, say to us? Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30. Sin is the burden and yoke that oppresses. God is the One who shows us the light out of that oppressive darkness and it is His Love for us. He knows. Trust Him. Lean on Him. We are loved. It is His Right Hand that saves us.
