God’s Truth Matters

And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel. Genesis 3:15.

Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O Lord. They rejoice in your name all day long; they exult in your righteousness. Psalm 89:15-16.

Reading our chapter, Job 12, I’m reminded of our impatience with one another when our “truth” is ignored. Doubtless you are the only people who matter, and wisdom will die with you! But I have a mind as well as you; I am not inferior to you. Who does not know all these things?…I have become a laughingstock,…though righteous and blameless! v. 1-4. That was Job speaking. He goes on…Those who are at ease have contempt for misfortune…In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind…Does not the ear test words as the tongue tastes food?…Is not wisdom found among the aged? Does not long life bring understanding?…To God belong wisdom and power; counsel and understanding are his…v. 5, 10, 11, 12, 13. Job’s discourses on the powers of this world ring true throughout every age of mankind…He leads rulers away stripped and makes fools of judges…He silences the lips of trusted advisers and takes away the discernment of elders…He makes nations great and destroys them…He deprives the leaders of the earth of their reason; he makes them wander in a trackless waste. They grope in darkness with no light; he makes them stagger like drunkards. v. 17, 20, 23, 24, 25.

What does all this mean? God’s truth matters. God does new things unexpectedly by us. The way of Satan from the very beginning is enmity between us and God and between us and one another…same-old same-old. We all of us have been living the result of that choice and we all of us have suffered. And God has never left us. All of Scripture is a testament to God working new things and bringing understanding out of the darkness of confusion. Do you long for clarity? Are you tired of the same-old-same-old? Choose life. Reject and turn away from the ways of death. Reading Scripture we begin to know God and His desires for us for our good. Lighted paving stones leading us to God and when we look up and ask, He is there to guide us faithfully forward with discernment and understanding that God is love and He loves us, His children, faithfully. God’s truth is our life with Him and it matters.
