I wanted to share today the blessing of the parable of the sower which is so worth reading. (Matthew 13:1-23, Mark 4:1-20, Luke 8:4-15). Jesus said, “I am the true vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5. The whole saying is v. 1-8.
We recently planted some flowering plants right outside our kitchen window. It’s a difficult spot for plants because it gets full sun that in Texas can truly bake anything and in drought not receive enough water. They are growing! They are native and used to the heat/drought. I love seeing the beautiful small dark pink blossoms rising up from the healthy plant.
I can’t help but think our hearts are like those plants. Tender shoots, easily hurt. Too much pain or negative emotions can harden our hearts. I can’t help but think about dead twigs with no green life remaining in them. And we are not dead twigs!
God reminded me this morning that my heart is like that tender plant that is seeking Him and life with Him. He has removed the diseased, deadened areas of my heart throughout my life and it is good. To be grafted with His Spirit nourishing us is to flourish and grow in His grace and love.
Remember Who brings life out of nothing. Remember Who it is who loves us, created us and all of this life teeming around us. His love heals the hardest hearts and brings life that is good! Thank You, Lord, for so great and so healing a love. Imagine what it will be like when God’s Kingdom fills this earth and beauty is restored and tender, bruised hearts are healed.
