For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. Hebrews 11:10.
Lift up your eyes to the heavens, look at the earth beneath; the heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment and its inhabitants die like flies. But my salvation will last forever, my righteousness will never fail. Isaiah 51:6.
Whose architect and builder is God – Father, Son, Spirit.
I love this chapter, Nehemiah 3. The people are working together to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem and each has their own section. They worked together. Can you imagine what that was like?
I remember when I was a little girl and for Valentine’s Day my grandmother sent me a card so beautiful I can still remember the impact of how that touched my heart. Love was being built. Our hearts were joined together though miles separated us. Beautiful cords of love.
He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.” Matthew 13:31-32.
Our faith begins as small as that mustard seed. Yet look at what God can do with our small faith. Our part of the wall built with the help of God and one another. God’s love for us is the foundation of good soil that nourishes our hearts and minds. He is the vine…we are the branches. We grow. Just as that wall in Jerusalem was built up by hands longing to do a good work together, so is the love we give to God that He takes and gives generously for others. We love. He builds. We are never alone. The kingdom of heaven. Where Jesus is the kingdom of heaven is. And where is Jesus? He is busy working and preparing together with us. It all begins with a small desire to love and be loved by our Creator God who loves us so much He lived among us in the flesh. Now He lives among us in the Spirit and our hearts are lifted up in hope and faith because we know who our Architect is and what He is building. His salvation is forever. His love will never fail. His hand is ready to welcome you and lift you up to be with Him. Can you imagine eternity building what is Good with God?
