Uplifted by God’s Spirit

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy. James 3:17.

Have you ever let God’s Spirit guide you? As you do you will realize with great joy that God is Sovereign. His Love is the Living Water that flows into parched lands longing for life and hope. We are so limited! We can only see so far. God’s Spirit lifts us up for a better view.

Last night we had the joy of gathering together with the 4 churches that now meet in our building which has become a place of possibility to witness the love that God has been preparing for us – To worship knowing Who we worship and that we are all part of the larger body that is His Creation. We celebrated singing songs of praise together interspersed with Scripture to point us to themes to pray together in smaller groups so we could get to know one another in the Spirit of God’s love as He leads us. Grandparents, adults, teens, young kids, toddlers…we were all together and it was wonderful…and then pie! So many pies! Where our small congregation was grappling with a denomination that cast us aside, we were welcomed by the very churches we had welcomed into our building so they could have a home. God’s Spirit poured out into a dry, parched land where none will be left behind. Can we begin to see God’s work?

And in our chapter, Ezra 5, God sent the prophets Haggai and Zechariah (two heavyweights with their own Books in Scripture) to prophesy to the Jews in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, who was over them. v. 1. God working. A letter is sent by those working to try to stop the construction of the temple; and while they awaited the decision of Darius, king of Persia, the construction continued and the prophets of God were with them, supporting them. v. 2.

God reminded me this morning that while my prayers for hearts in hostile countries to be changed could only go so far because of my disbelief…God is not limited. Where I lack vision God does not. He reminded me to drink in the bounty of His love and let it overflow and flow outward to others that they may know His love is real. His love brings life to hearts dead and hardened and it is good. We got a taste of that last night and I couldn’t help but rejoice that one day all humanity will be worshipping God together. We are a family. We are God’s children created in His image and it is good! Trust God to bring that about because He is able! Can you imagine? Let God help you! He’s here always at work for our good and it is very good! Let His Spirit lift you now!
