Give Thanks to the Lord!

I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father. I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. John 16:26-28, 33.

He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God. 1 Peter 1:20-21.

This chapter, 2 Chronicles 20, is an amazing chapter of faith in God. Armies are coming up against Judah. Jehoshaphat gathers everyone together to pray to God. If calamity comes upon us, whether the sword of judgment, or plague or famine, we will stand in your presence before this temple that bears your Name and will cry out to you in our distress, and you will hear us and save us; For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you. v. 9, 12.

And God’s answer through the Spirit of the Lord? Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s. v. 15. And so it was and so it is for us. Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever. v. 21.

In my walk with God, He has led me to the place where faith in Him lives. He is not “far away” and I don’t grasp empty air when I am with Him. I feel the love and warmth and peace of His presence. I am learning not just that I can walk with Him but that He has always been beside me. I am learning to trust His Will instead of insisting on my own way. Anyone who knows me knows I have no sense of direction! Where it truly matters – this life – that is okay. I keep my eyes on Him! I keep my heart open to His words of life eternal that is His Love.

In this world filled with troubles we don’t know what to do. We think we do and that has led to the history of us. Keep your eyes on Him. He knows the way and it is good! He has overcome the world. Let His peace fill your heart and guide you to His love that is eternal and endures forever!
