Choose Wisely

Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am. Philippians 4:13 MSG.

Last night I didn’t watch the debate between the Republican candidates. They cannot give what I truly need.

I choose our Creator God – Father, Son, Spirit – to lead me. I want Him to lead me in His love because when I am with Him I am truly free. When I sit with Him in prayer the pressures, the worries, the stresses fall away and I know His peace surrounding me. Are there still problems in this world that I cannot solve? Absolutely! I can’t solve them. Can you? Can God?

One of the things He tells me is to be patient. That used to be so hard! But He has told me that so often I am learning the beauty of being patient. I wait with Him in His timing and it always works out well. Always.

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. James 3:17. That wisdom only comes from our Creator God. Do you want that kind of wisdom in your life? His wisdom is there regardless of the chaos of the world swirling around us.

Before I came to seek to know God, to really begin to know Him…not who I thought He was…it was easy to think I could never be good enough because I would always want what God didn’t want me to want. As a child I knew He loved me and I delighted in that love. As a teenager I began to rebel against a lot of things including God. As an adult with kids I thought obeying God was the most important thing as though rules were the only thing that mattered. All of that fell away when I truly needed God’s help to understand the cruelty of mankind. Only the Love of God can soften those blows. Only the Love of God can lift us out of the lies of hate.

As I am learning the valuable lesson of waiting with God, I am learning how patient He is with me and by extension with all of us. In His patience He is merciful not wanting anyone to fail but all to come to the realization of His Love for them.

There is such freedom in God. There is freedom to be Loved perfectly by God. There is freedom for us to love others imperfectly! There is freedom to wait for Him knowing He has us and knows what is best for every single one of us….in His perfect loving timing.

As I read Scripture, I read it always with the understanding that God Loves us. He is faithful. He is kind. He understands the hurt we cause ourselves and each other and He made a way for us to be with Him in His truth and Love. No matter what this life holds for each of us, God made a way that heals and restores us. He showed us the way…He went before us…He guides us still. How great is that Love! I choose Him!
