And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. Romans 5:5.
Last night in our Midweek Encounter, we were asked to ponder and reflect on our walk with God throughout our lives to now; and how our encounters with Him have impacted us. I found that the last question, what has God called you to do, culminated in God’s words to me…”Believe me – this is our life together.” As a young child I wanted to live with Jesus and I was so excited at that prospect! As an adult, churchless, I wanted to know Him. My hope has not been disappointed. He has poured out His love into my heart and I am Home. He is leading me to know and trust Him and it is good.
Reading 1 Chronicles 10, I can’t help but contrast what I know about Saul, the first king of Israel, and David the second king of Israel. Saul was a lot like my life before I truly longed for God. He didn’t know God to believe God. David’s heart for God reflects the love each of us find in God and in His love for each of us and it is good!
And then reading The Chosen 40 Days With Jesus Book Three, on Day 39 Simon Peter steps out of the boat amidst the storms to walk to Jesus. And (Simon) Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.” Matthew 14:28-33.
Simon Peter had a heart like David. He loved God.
I believe God. He saves me. He loves me. He wants to be with me.
Believe Him. He wants to be with you. He loves you. His love saves you and you will never be the same!
