The Grace of Each Day With God

One of the things I am learning in my walk with God is learning to appreciate the present; not just dwelling in the past or worrying about the future but truly living today. It’s not easy. My mind slips effortlessly into what was and what if. Jesus warned His disciples, Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:34. Why does He say that? He is present with us in the here and now where we need Him.

Reading 2 Kings 13 I’m reminded of how quickly time marches on. Some kings are given a few paragraphs and usually with the same things over and over being done. Did they expect a different result? Were they happy with the status quo? In this chapter, Elisha dies. In the notes below it said 43 years had passed between Elisha’s mention in this chapter and in 9:1. The march of time.

What about our lives today? How fast is the march of time for you? In a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 1 Corinthians 15:52.

The grace of each day with God helps us to savor our lives and the blessings He has surrounded us with. With that newfound awareness we can live more fully with Him. We can choose love. We can choose hope. We can begin to discern more fully the absence of love and hope in ourselves and why that leads to pain. With His love guiding us we can walk with Him. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4.

Can you imagine? We can walk with someone who cares about us. We don’t need to walk alone. Our lives are marching on even now and we can walk with Him in the grace and love of each day with Him caring for us and showing us how to care for others. With Him, I know peace and in that peace can see the possibility of peace for each of us. When was the last time you felt at peace? Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27. He’s here. Always. Grace.
