You do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men. Matthew 16:23.
When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man, “I am willing.” he said. Matthew 8:1-3.
In our Discipleship Class before church services yesterday, we watched that reenactment in the episode of The Chosen. The best thing about watching The Chosen in Discipleship Class is that we can push pause and talk about what we are seeing, share our insights and in that grow together as we mine for deeper understanding.
I am searching for deeper understanding and closeness with God – Father, Son, Spirit. My thoughts become an onslaught within me. I’m afraid of sin in myself and in others. I’m afraid. Am I understanding rightly? How can I not judge when others sin? If I want mercy from God how can I not want that for others? On and on and on my thoughts become an onslaught. He tells me to be still. Love Him. Let Him love me. Be with Him. He is willing. That brought tears to my eyes because how often am I like the disciples saying, No! Don’t go there! That person is unclean! We are surrounded in this age with people who will do things we don’t agree with. And what does God tell us? You do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men. I am willing.
Please don’t ever let go of me, Lord. I want to learn from You. I want to follow You. Yours is the Way of Love, of Healing, of Grace. I trust You, Lord. I trust You for all things.
