After flying half-way around the world, we boarded a cruise ship in Australia and cruised to New Zealand. The Pacific Ocean is massive (64 million square miles, 13,000 feet/4,000 meters deep). And I couldn’t stop wondering how deep the water was as it rose and moved continuously. I felt so small and insignificant. Returning home and feeling unwell, I tested positive for Covid. Being sick also makes me feel so small.
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. Psalm 19:1-4.
In these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. Hebrews 1:2-3.
We saw such beauty poured forth; plants and trees we have never before seen richly, generously colored! It became so apparent to me and my sister-in-law that God loves abundant, rich variety! One flower is not nearly enough for our amazing Creator God. So many varieties! So many beautiful colors!
As much as I was so grateful to be home at last after 2 grueling flights requiring mind numbing patience, the very best part of being home was my sacred time this morning with my Creator God. There is no place like home the adage goes… the Lord God is my home!
He is the One who sustained us by His powerful Word. He who created the vast Pacific and sustains it holds us near in the sure trust of His love and I am humbled by so powerful a love. Thank You, Lord.
